After exercise, find a quiet warm place to lie down, flat on your back. Palms facing upward, feet apart, head supported. Lie there for 10 minutes. You do not need to do anything. Just try to relax yourself.

Start by doing the corpse pose only after you do exercise . Make the corpse pose last for 10 minutes.

You play dead. Here’s how it’s done – Lie flat on your back on the floor with a pillow under your head and play dead.

That’s the entire instruction.

Lie down. You can, if you choose lie down in a good posture, meaning on your back with your arms by your sides out at 45 degrees and your legs slightly spread with your feet rolling out to the sides. Put a pillow under your head so your neck spine area is parallel to the floor chin slightly tucked in.

Your mind might race all over the place. Let it. Just don’t move. Learn to disconnect action from thought. Learn what it feels like to be the master of your body. You can think “ahhhhhh I’m itchy” as long as you don’t scratch it. This is the first level of mastery of life. Not being a puppet to your body’s every whim to eat, jump, move – by learning to be still.

You can wear an eye mask or a small bean bag over your eyes. And, if your lower back is tender, tuck a pillow under your knees.

The key here is to close your eyes and when you are ready, just lie there. Do not move. It’s called the CORPSE pose because you must lie down dead. All you can do is observe until your alarm goes off.

Set a very gentle alarm for ten minutes. Make sure no one disturbs the process because your nerves will be relaxing and vulnerable to shock. Just let the whole world be there. If you fall asleep so be it. If you think and talk to yourself just watch the thought, don’t answer it or try to stop it. Like being in the movies just let the screen go wherever it wants but you stay in your seat observing.

Lie down, head supported. Don’t move. Observe. After ten minutes, get up. To relax means to become receptive; receptive to your own inner happiness and peace, your true nature, that which is boundless, limitless joy, that which is the very core of every being. To relax allows you to let go of everything that may be holding you back from the experience of the truth of your very being.
